Park Jaebum's solo comeback and activities have been successful. The problem of quitting 2PM that shook up Korea last year, and the rumors that were started because of it greatly dimmed the activities of the talented young man called Park Jaebum, but Park Jaebum who'd come back in 2 years had a relatively stoic attitude.

He received passing marks in quality with the sophisticated pop-style songs that are listed in his first solo mini album 'TAKE A DEEPER LOOK', and his title track 'Abandoned' scored first place two weeks in a row as soon as it was released in KBS 'Music Bank'. However, Park Jaebum's expression didn't show 100% satisfaction.

"I certainly thought about how I didn't have popular appeal. However, I thought that just this time, it was an opportunity to do what I wanted to do, and I wanted to show that the songs just have to be good. I wrote the lyrics for all seven songs and participated in the composition of six songs. I participated in all details from the album artwork to the music video. I'm satisfied with the appraisal that I came back as a singer-songwriter after throwing off my idol feel."

For certain parts, it's obvious that the power of the fandom which had steadied itself further through hardships had an effect. Objectively speaking, the reason that his popularity couldn't endure steadily as much as it was explosive is because of this. However, it's clear that the assessments towards Park Jaebum has met its turning point. At this, the roles his good friends played cannot be ignored.

"I hear that I, who was an idol, suddenly changed. However, it's for certain that R&B and hip-hop is my kind of music. From when I was young, I listened to this kind of music, and this is my life. Of course, it was a big help that I had friends such as Dok2 and The Quiett by my side."

Meeting a good partner, to an artist, is a bigger piece of luck than any. Especially if that partner is a friend who understands one's thoughts.

"The foremost thing is to befriend them. I met Ne-Yo, and Musiq Soulchild. Meeting worldwide musicians obviously have meaning, but I don't think it's possible for us to do music together if I can't befriend them. Honestly, I didn't know much about Korean hip-hop. I think I just knew Tiger JK, and that was it. Then I met my friends, and I became a fan of their music, and I wanted to work with them. Dok2 and The Quiett are friends like that."

The activities Park Jaebum thinks of isn't above having a fun time with his friends. In reality, the steps Park Jaebum has taken, having small club performances with musicians like Dok2, international tour, performing with AOM hadn't been progressed because of a specific success or for marketing. They experience Park Jaebum's large contexts together.

"The thing I always hope for is just one thing. I don't have a mind to buy a good car, good house or anything. I just hope that the people around me live well and be happy. It's like having fun times with friends, not make my parents worry and buy my younger brother games he wants to have, stuff like that. It's stuff that I don't have to have a major success for."

In contrast to the hopes he has for his life, the aspirations he has for delving into the American market is clearly gigantic and solid. Park Jaebum has set that deadline for 2 years.

"Honestly, I'm confident. I think the important thing isn't the problem of working with some artist, reading the trend, and doing promotions. I think it's sincerity. Even if I do music in America, I can make it feel sincere. I listened to pop music since I was young and I'm certain I know their kind of music well. I write my raps in English first, and I already have a manager in America. Language is obviously important too. It's true that I need it to pass on my sincerity. 2 years, I see it a long time. I think it's sufficient."

I decided not to mention 2PM. Of course, there are many places the subject has been talked about, but the thought that he was a musician that should look at the future rather than the past was stronger.

"As a composer and producer, I worked on U-KISS' new album, and I'll also hold a concert soon. Since I already have a lot of songs I've made, I think the production of my 2nd mini album will finish quickly as well. Honestly, I have schedules for the filming of the movie, and I feel discontented because there's insufficient time for me to work on music. It's a kind of relief to have my activities finished before the expected time. (Laugh)"
